  Brazil's Rois Kart
Posted by: Scott Elkes - 04-05-2017, 10:40 AM - Forum: Karts and Kart Engines of Brazil - Replies (2)

I believe the Rois is the first Brazilian kart manufacturer? Starting around 1960? Pictured is 1965 shared by Facebook friend Henri Strauss and he continues karting with vintage groups.

Like me, Henri has created interesting kart related projects in his karting activities.

  Brazil's "Kart Mini"
Posted by: Scott Elkes - 04-05-2017, 10:24 AM - Forum: Karts and Kart Engines of Brazil - No Replies

The "Kart Mini" is a kart brand that brothers Wilson and Emerson Fittipaldi along with a third partner started in the 1960s.

Ad from the early 1970s...

A Kart Mini restored, recreated to look like Emerson's 1968 Brazil National Championship kart and was powered by a Mc-75. Just returning to the pit from a track run on a television production special. Do you think the two time F1 World Champion and Indy 500 Champion had fun?

Emerson with the kart's restorer Marcelo Afornali (right) and Emerson's young son (at left). Emerson's son drove the modern kart at right and I believe also that is a Kart Mini...

I came across this picture while looking for the Brazilian manufactured engines. If memory serves me, the 1968 National Championship kart.

  '61 Dart axle
Posted by: Tim Exley - 04-05-2017, 09:52 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

I need to know the correct length for a rear axle for my '61 Dart. I will be running 5" Tri-Stars on it. What would the rear tread width be? How is it measured? I've heard two opinions.
Also, what is the front tread width for a '61 Dart? Thanks

Brandon Adkins posted this on his Facebook page:

"It is with great sadness and heavy heart I announce the passing of my father Kyle Adkins. So many things to say and or do. I'm just at a loss for words right now. I hope everyone understands. We will have more information available soon. "

  Azusa swing mounts
Posted by: Terry Bentley - 04-04-2017, 07:49 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

I used one of these some time back. It didnt work at all for the application. Just mounting a Briggs on an old Hornet S85 sprint chassis for a guys kids to play on. He was not interested in selling the kart or trading for a fun kart.

Anyway the bearing hanger is centered directly in between the slotted holes for engine to mount. Regardless of what gear I used or clutch sprocket it had, there was not enough forward or back adjustment to tighten chain. I guess using a half link then it might work. Even then it had very little range to adjust chain. Basically it moved forward or back with little effect.

With the chain short as possible there was three adjustments. All the way forward was too loose, centered was way too loose and all the way back was too loose. The only way I could make it work was to shim up the motor with washers. Not my idea of a good fix.

I have Rupp and Bug swing mounts that have hangers offset to one end and adjustment is perfect. If the motor mount used has vertical slotted adjustments or slotted like some Mac angle plates would work, but otherwise I found this mount to be useless.

Did I miss the boat here? Or the next time I need a cheap alternative swing mount, then will cut the hangers off and reweld with a couple inches of offset.

  West bend damage
Posted by: Kevin Davis - 04-03-2017, 03:02 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Can someone tell me , can a scored West Bend cylinder with heavy scoring be repaired. I have a WB 700 5 port that came with my Simplex Challenger Mark II I purchase from the son of the original owner. When I tore the engine down, I found that the engine had been blown at sometime before it was parked for many years. It appears that rings and ring landing broke and a couple of the pieces damaged the piston and the cylinder. it being a 700 5 port I was hoping it might be repaired. Is there any hope?

the herd has to be thinned. just like burger king you can have it your way. runners or rollers. your choice for ready to run rebuilt motors. PM me for prices. i do not plan on shipping any of these karts but i will be attending the following events. you can either pick them up or have somebody else get them for you but the karts will not be there unless arrangements have been made beforehand. possibly circleville, sandy hook, avon, possibly new castle (bringing sunscreen this year), TBO and oreville and the following vintage enduro races (Summit, Savannah and possibly VIR if it's a cool weekend)  if you want a kart shipped you will have to make all the arrangements including having the kart crated by the shipping company yourself.

Karts from left to right Panther X, 1965 Hornet Marauder II enduro, Margay New Breed (i have the rear wheels for it and it could come complete with 2 copperhead Bonbright 820's), Motive Systems enduro left hand has body and body tank but also has the original vintage tanks, (has TT75 on it but not sure if it is going to be sold or not), Hornet sprint kart complete with gearbox and 91 series McCulloch motor in as found condition. I have the rear wheels for it.

Brian and Dave. If you want to open the store you can start with the karts shown above.  I have more karts that i don't have pictures for yet. Karts include 80's coyote lefthand sidewinder, coyote bullet twin enduro, SR16 (on ebay),  rupp grand prix (on ebay), dap kid kart with body and comer 50, NOS Tibi Kadet, 90's mike wilson, 2 margay TNR's, bug stinger, bug black widow, gary domelt King kart repop, what i think is an emmick kadet but not 100% sure, a simplex and a couple of A-bone projects.
