Itemized List of Vintage Kart Parts Bill
Posted by: Scott Elkes - 03-30-2017, 10:09 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Certainly one of the LOST posts from the old failed Vintage Kart Forum website.

I believe there were three veteran kart builders contributing to the threads: Steve Miller, David Luciana and Gary Wlodarsky. I did some minor edits to the text and added my comments within (parenthesis) for clarification. Again, the only purpose is to provide a general idea and to provide a rough guideline--just assume it will be more!

It was from several recent Vintage Kart FB pages comments that I revisited my "Parts Bill" document; people asking the question for some idea of a parts bills to restore a vintage kart. I have previously collected some of the responses from either Facebook and the old Vintage Kart Forum from a few years ago.

Be aware the material is dated. The K&P (Bug karts) operation has since closed down and sold off their inventory when the document's comments were made. Robron (Dart) is still in operation.

  Burco Clutch chain size?
Posted by: Ludovico Prelogar - 03-29-2017, 10:29 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Does anyone happen to know what the chain type would go on a burco 414 clutch? (35, 40 etc.)

Looking to get a chain and sprocket soon but don't know what size I need to get.

Thanks!

Vico

  S.A.E. Karts (Solt Automotive Engineering)

S.A.E. past and present...

The Spider (Ad). The early days and it was complicated.

Very nice example of a early/mid 60s survivor SAE dual. (Elkes photo - 2012, Kartington Raceway). From the Nagel Family kart collection.

Many SAE karts were custom built to race the "Open Class" dirt track racing class. No weight limit and minimal rules for the engine(s). (Elkes photo - 2013, OVCA Swap Meet)

Jerry Solt working on Quentin Haines' SAE reproduction kart. (Elkes photo - 2014, REARs' TBO)
Quentin last ran his #7 Kart at Adams, Riverside CA. seven years prior. The kart was apart. I told Q to bring the kart and I'll help wrench it and we'll get you on the track. A whole lot of wrenching, vintage community support for help, parts and speciality tools and Jerry Solt. My first drive in a SAE.

And, why we vintage kart...
