THE AGENCY THAT GOT CHEATED OUT OF OVER $100 BILLION DOLLARS WHEN IT PASSED OUT THE PANIC VIRUS FUNDS IS GOING TO RECEIVE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF WORTHLESS 1099S.  50% OF PEOPLE PAY NO INCOME TAX IN THE U.S.   VIRTUALLY ALL OF THEM WILL STILL NOT PAY TAXES RENDERING THE 1099 MEANINGLESS.  FOR THOSE WHO PAY TAX, THE IRS DOES NOT TAX GROSS RECEIPTS, BUT PROFITS.  FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU SOLD A GO KART PART ON EBAY AND THE IRS WANTED TO TAX THE PROCEEDS THEY WOULD HAVE TO CLAIM YOU WERE IN THE VINTAGE KART PARTS BUSINESS.  SO YOUR 10 OR 15 PERCENT THAT WENT TO EBAY WOULD BE A DEDUCTION.  WHAT YOU HAD IN THE PART WOULD BE A DEDUCTION.  IF YOU ARE IN THE BUSINESS THEN ALL OF YOUR EXPENSES FOR GOING TO THE RACES WOULD BE MARKETING EXPENSES, ETC. ETC.  YOUR TAX PREPARER WOULD PROBABLY GET A BIG CHUCKLE WHEN HE SAW HOW MUCH MONEY YOU LOST BECAUSE THE IRS DECIDED YOU WERE IN THE KART PART BUSINESS.  

I HATE TO SEE THE FEDS SNOOPING INTO ANYTHING.  THIS NONSENSE VALIDATES A PIECE OF WISDOM ONE OF MY FAVORATE PHILOSOPERS PROVIDED, "STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES".

I know this post is going to be controversial but I have been one of the supporters of both sides and have fought for the reemergence of the two groups here in the northeast.  I have understood vintage karting since 1977 as my Pop shared stories of the local kart guys.  I finally built a Kart for myself and got my dad involved in the Northeast VKA. We had a few great years, making friends, going to dinner and breakfast "Mothers" if ya know, and then dare I say competing with one another on the track.  I felt the excitement and there was a huge growth in participation at the time, 2018ish, it pushed me to be a better driver, mechanic and teammate to the guys.  Then came the  separation of the two sides, we all know the story.  The split in participation has separated the people entering in events and in turn has declined the excitement.  They have there guys, we have ours and a few of us go to both.  Well I have been treading water for a few seasons now and I actually feel I have my best running kart yet, but there is such a small group of guys on both sides, its lost its excitement.  I actually got thru practice today and was ready to pack up and go home because there was no one to really race.  I had more fun at Nicholson last year for the turkey race and both sides were present than I did today.  Hmmmm?  Its funny as I talk to the guys in the pits, all that can be said is I just wish we were one group again.  Its truly amazing how the powers that be control the people, but the people don't get what they want?  I am not sure there is a solution as I spent hours on the phone with both sides.  But I guess I have to keep trying to get everyone together. Come on fellas, there is just not enough of us to be separated.

For those of you who have stopped selling karts and part like me because of draconian tax laws, this link will get you to the online eBay petition to fight and repeal this travesty.  I wont get anymore political-Not The Place. But many of us use eBay to buy and sell, but have stopped because of the new tax law.

Incidentally, have you noticed the lack of parts being sold on eBay as compared to last year?
Actually I stopped last June when PayPal got tossed and everything has to go directly through the checking account, making it no longer an anonymous transaction the gov’t would have access to.

Accepting a Paypal payment for $601.00 will automatically flag you as a 1099K tax status. Also the tax is said to be automatically taken, so you cant get around it.
So if you you aint standing in front of me with a fist full of cash, It’s’ still mine.
