  Wheel spacer question
Posted by: ted johnson - 06-13-2017, 05:07 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

What do the vintage gang do when adding rear wheel spacers to wheels that have half the valve stem hole in each wheel half? Those beautiful CT wheels that George Sellon gave me for the Photon have that exact issue. When I built the Mike Burke Van Tech, I made water jet cut rear wheel spacers. I cut the other half of the valve stem hole in the wheel spacer, and made a dam of thin aluminum backed by waxed paper, and taped it to the inner surface of the inner wheel half. I then filled the little half hole with JB Weld. After it cured, I dressed it smooth and painted the wheel half. It worked fine, but I was wondering if there might be a better (meaning easier) way? By the way, Will Rogers' cast spacers are perfect-better than my water jet cut ones were. Ted

  101 rod bolts
Posted by: tom dandes - 06-13-2017, 07:08 AM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

I know this has been covered many times but all is lost since the other forum went down. Question #1 I need a socket or the wrench to remove the rod bolts does anyone have one they will loan or know where I can buy one? Question #2 what is the best replacement for them and who has them? Question #3 is there any interference issues on the rod cap if you use a socket head bolt instead of the splined bolt?

I know there are issues with the stuffer and block where the rod bolt hit and it seems I read somewhere that the caps had to be chamfered? Unfortunately the memory is the first to go...

I'm just curious of some of you guys theories on break in procedures after a rebuild? What method do you use and have you tried others that didn't work as well. Ie rings didn't seal worth the crap.

  vintage sidewinder kart ID
Posted by: chuck giacobbe - 06-11-2017, 01:57 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

i believe this is an invader. i have sent pictures to jerry van duesen. he has come to the same conclusion. he believes it's a magnum or a special constructed invader. note that the rear crossbar is at an angle. every invader kart i have seen on jerry's website shows that bar going straight across.  it has an invader block caliper, and what looks like invader spindles. the kart is straight. no cracks or breaks in the frame. and not altered in anyway except where the nerf bars have been attached.  the nerf bars which i also believe are invader are not right for this chassis. they have been added. the original nerf bar tabs are still attached. check the pictures. if anybody has any information on the kart it would be greatly appreciated. if there is any interest in this kart i can have it at new castle for $400.

a few of the frames aren't for sale but most of them will be being listed for purchase.
running low on space so thinning the herd is becoming a priority!!!

  Power Product AH61 Muffler Wanted
Posted by: Brian Sheridan - 06-09-2017, 11:24 PM - Forum: For Sale/Wanted - No Replies

Guys,
I'm just finishing up my Percival Hellcat with an almost NOS Power Products AH61 engine.
The engine was very complete, with the racing exhaust stack, but it's going to be too loud.
Does anyone out there have a nice muffler that they would like to sell?
Brian
