I never got lucky enough to have some of the bolt sticking out like those guys on tv. Usually standing on my head trying to manage the helmet, stinger, lead light, and hold the nut on there all at once. lol

mine broke just even with surface. didn't stop raining yet but went to house cleared area welder has to travel through , got 10/3 wire to extend power cord from building for welder, set up a track canopy over the truck and talked my cousin into doing the weld for me , he's way better welder then i am.
hopefully this story ends tomorrow.

so today it was raining 1/2 the dang morning. finally slowed down so i got the stuff i needed to make a welder extension cord.
maybe should've done that yesterday but hadn't really decided to try the weld extraction till late. had a few other things to do but had just finished with jumper wire when my cousin fred showed up. he's a much better welder than i am. it took 4 or 5 tries but we finally got a nut to stay welded firmly and eased out the broken stud. zero damage to the aluminum. took another hour to get the last two full studs loose and then chased all the threads out. currently i have managed to re install the manifold. was already 10.30 pm by then so i called it and got something to eat. will finish up in am and start loading up. am hoping the e brake is loose think i fixed the jammed side. sooooo, it's back to getting ready for the playday on sunday the 28th!! heard from a bunch of guys who are now worrying about weather. sunday looks good so far. hurray .

took a big hunk of today but put truck front bsack together. disassembled reasr brake to free it. didn't find much but whatever i did seemed to have eliminated the problem.
loaded trailer what a horror show every year first time. decided to drag my gk400 with west bend 700 along as unrestored. while i was at it i loaded the even earlier gk400 with steel steering wheel. will try to get pix. there seems to be alot of really nice karts headed to event. will try to remember to get pix. many of these karts have never been to any vintage event before. i'm excited. will report maybe monday on play day.

am home earlier than i figured.
the day went well!!! we weren't exactly counting but a good guess would be 35-40 people showed up maybe a few more. driver wise probaly 30 and the place was littered with karts. since everyone got a pass we assumed everyone was allowed to fdrive. my gk800 had three newbes take a spin each guy got at least ten laps. we used about 4.5 gallons of alky between the gk800 and the king kart with a mc49. endless track time alot like tbo but alot less structured. the "skid pad" area is huge was laid out a nice old school cone track. about 4pm or so we broke out the grill and made burgrs. a bunch of guys had left early several had snuck over before picnic obligations caught up with them. anyway was fun track was happy pretty sure we'll be back. BTW it turned out the porshe club was full on the whole time too . pretty cool watching those guys rip around the main track. lots of bench racing went onm too so there was always something to watch do or whatever. if you got bored i'm afraid we can't help you!!! Save
