doug,
whether you know this or not Canadian health care has long wait times.
pete was a meticulous and cautious guy in nature.
he didn't do things half assed .
Pete had zero symptoms he just got to the recommended age to do this procedure.
he went in , as diligent people do , and was told he had to do the blood test or whatever first .
in the usa they just do the colonoscopy , it's far more accurate than tests.
But , in canada nearly everything important medically has long wait lists.
so they make people jump through hoops to make sure they actually need something done.
so he did the test and waited for results.
if it was positive he was supposed to be scheduled for the camera part.
his mistake was he assumed that he didn't need to follow up with the doctors office.
the doctors office got positive results and should've scheduled the colonoscopy but didn't for what ever reason.
MONTHS LATER he got sick it might've been longer that was ages ago.
anyway by then he had 6 inches of cancerous growth in his intestines and the cancer had metastasized.
it got in his liver and that was that.
there's an excellent chance had he just been allowed the colonoscopy in the first place they would've caught it in time.
