Ted I agree , tabs are a better design. If this 65 kart  he is asking about is a driver tabs would better . Weld shut most of the holes being careful not to heat twist the frame. Put the tabs on and drive it !
Just for fun, Margay has the floor tabs for a good price. I've used them on the n1ke and Photon. Good and strong. I make a Masonite pan pattern, screw the tabs to the Masonite, invert the frame and center the Masonite with the tabs attached. Weld the tabs and unscrew the Masonite. Weld up the screw holes at the same time. The Masonite can be used as a pattern for the aluminum pan. Wish you could get out here for Dean Kanocz' November event and BBQ.
