Extension shaft

Does anyone remember who made these back in the day, or what the purpose was?

It came with spares when I bought a K88/'71 Hornet enduro 10 years ago. It looks like it was made to run with a jackshaft. I wish I had a few more...

i have about twenty of those splined or keyed. 
pretty sure extension for jack shaft is correct.

Good to know Dave thanks. I may be asking for a few more if I can cob together a jackshaft system in the future.
