SUCCESS!! I found a chain drive nut in my bag of tricks. It has an outside diameter of 9/16", so I cut the tube extension (that the drum spins on) off of the hub and used the larger nut set up so the drum rides partly on the hub and partly on the nut. Torqued to 300 in-lbs and all looks good. Thanks to all for your advice.
