I've been asking a lot of questions around the vintage karting community as I build my Rupp Grand Prix. One resource that I've made use of on my own for years, for this project and for others, is Carroll Smith's "Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners and Plumbing Handbook". Caroll Smith speaks from a position of experience that motorsports enthusiasts will respect, and with humor, too. Lots of engineering and science, hand in hand with well explained practical application. Lots of illustrations to help clarify the concepts he's describing.
