820 question
#1
What are the pros and cons of making an 820 a bottom feeder ? carb mounted on  the bottom stuffer only .

The big problem with "bottom feeding" is, packaging, I'd say.
It's easy to forget that there are transfer ports on both sides of the cylinder, not just the side that we usually bolt the carb onto. It would seem that putting the carb on the stuffer would make the two sides more equal. Of course that ignores the rotating crank, so I guess it's hard to say without a test.

So,to Brian's point, in the 55 years since the 820 was introduced, has anyone run a test?

Same general situation applies to Macs, of course.

Hey, Brian. a lot of the very fastest 820's in the old days ran dual bottom Tillies. When the V-12 manifold showed up with the good reed area, it eclipsed the dual bottom reed cages, though dual West Bend Vee reeds are probably nearly as good. If I could've gotten my bottom manifold with the IAME reed cast, it would've been very good indeed. The cost was too great. The West Bend reeds are worth a try. Ted
