Recently I had a PVL that wouldn't ground out with a kill switch. The wire had broken off below the potting on top the coil. I dug the potting off where the wire ran in to it. Just below the surface I found a piece of brass where the wire had been attached. I fluxed the brass and soldered a new wire to that and then covered the area in epoxy followed by silicone adhesive. It seems to work fine now. The factory wire is not very tough.
