#1
a friend just found one of these engines and was wondering about parts and pieces for them. Anyone know anything about one of these?

Steve, I can't remember PP model numbers on the opposed twins, but if it's the one that doesn't have air shrouds, but a stamped steel fan on top of a domed flywheel, they were pretty horrible engines. Due to poor design, some of them would never run on both cylinders at the same time. At best, maybe 1-1/2 HP when both cylinders were working. Pop used to cringe when one of them came into our shop. A 1950's mower called the Blue Boy used the PP twin. It had to rank, along with the Pincor mowers of the time, as the worst mower ever built! Fun to play with, and a minor victory if you can get it running well. Sad thing is that the single cylinder version of the engine, though having almost no power, always ran smoothly. Ted

Pretty much useless for a kart, but....

Terry, that's wild! I've never had the pleasure of seeing the later PP twin after they added the cooling shrouds. There's a pic on Smokstak, but it's been modified and is missing the stamped fan. TJ
