1/21/2019 SADLY, BUTCH K, THE TERROR OF +60 CLASS WILL MISS BUSHNELL THIS YEAR. BUTCH HAS BATTLED A VARIETY OF CANCERS OVER ALMOST THE LAST DECADE. HIS GENUINE LOVE OF VINTAGE KARTING AND LOOKING FORWARD ONE MORE TRIP TO BUSHNELL AND BARNESVILLE REALLY HELPED HIM THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES. WE WERE PLANNING ON TURNING HIM LOOSE ON BUSHNELL AS LATE AS EARLY DECEMBER. THIS CANCER REALLY HIT HIM HARD WITH TWO OPERATIONS, A STINT IN ICU, AND HE'S STILL IN THE HOSPITAL. IT'S NOT CLEAR WHERE THIS ON IS HEADED. WE REALLY CAN ONLY HOPE FOR THE BEST.
IT'S REPORTED THAT BUTCH'S GRANDSON IS PENCILLED IN TO GRENADE SOME MCCULLOCHS ON GARY W'S SCREAMING HORNET B-OPEN. GARY IS PUPORTEDLY BRINGING SOME SPARE MACS. HE MAY BE PLANNING ON GIVING SEAN A CHANCE TO EXCEED HIS PAST RECORD OF 3 BLOWN ENGINES AT ONE RACE.
THE WEATHER FORECAST FOR BUSHNELL LOOKS LIKE WEDNESDAY WILL BE A FLORIDA DAY WITH TEMPS AROUND 80. THURSDAY LOOKS LIKE A DAY FOR RACING JET SKIS AND AIR BOATS AROUND THE TRACK. AN EARLIER FORECAST HAD THUNDER AND LIGHTNING (NOT B & C OPEN T & L) FOR THE WHOLE DAY. THE MOST RECENT ONE STILL CALLS FOR BASICALLY A RAINOUT, BUT LESS BOOMING AND SPARKING. RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WILL BE A GO. THE TEMPS ARE A BIT MORE LIKE CARETTA DOM EXPERIENCES IN ALASKA IN THE SUMMER THAN FLORIDA 75 TO 80S. THOSE WHO JOURNEY DOWN FROM THE BLIZZARD ZONE WILL PROBABLY FIND IT NICE. THE GEEZER (FROM NAPLES) IS PACKING A COUPLE OF PAIRS OF THINSULATE LINED JEANS LIKE I WEAR IN THE SUMMER IN ALASKA.
THIS RACE IS SHAPING UP TO BE A GENUINE RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG EVENT WITH LITTLE OR NO PRACTICE. IT SHOULD BE REALLY INTERESTING.
