Burnishing pictures
#61
Karl sent me a nice MC92 block and head, and an NOS piston which had been sitting around.  Old cosmoline can be a issue. (For me) the easiest way to remove is with a heat gun and cheap spray lubricant. Some of my dedicated solvents won't make this old stuff budge. I alternate heat and spray while rotating the bearing. Once it's all clean out the burnisher will do the rest.
The block was taped and blasted and in the burnisher for 1.5hrs.
Thanks Karl!

I traded Bobby in Mississippi some Homelite internals for a Mc 1-51. It was pretty fresh. Of course I was going to burnish the block, piston, FW, and head. To keep the steel pins from rusting I have to preserve them with a high pH fatty compound and this is when I put a crank in. This compound is relatively safe on the magnesium parts as well, but they never burnish like the aluminum. I guess I call this one "saw in the raw".

I'm going to be away until the end of March, so I'll be parking the machine for a bit.

I just got back from a month long work trip and couldn't wait to get back in the garage. I've got a few more local flights this week, but hope to knock out some more burnishing jobs this week.
Here is a nice KT100  from JB which had been mostly blasted and it cleaned up really nice. I always chase the threads to clean out the years of junk. Thanks JB.

Finished up some parts for a C-open restoration. Steel parts like headers always turn out great.

Burnishing will cover up the sandpaper finish on the Van-K rims.

I got another great looking 92 along with some V12 and V16 parts from Karl. I wish I'd had the burnisher when I was rebuilding my MCs so they could all look this way.

These 6" Turbines were rough and came from a fellow named Eric in NY. They turned out really nice and wanted to share this. Everybody loves a good before and after story.

Finally I get my hands on some Power Products pieces. Bobby M. sent me parts which will hopefully end up on some of his builds.

Here is a K78 I picked up from JB. Not a real radical engine as it just has some smoothing in the ports. The cloudy day doesn't do much for the pics.

John W. up in New York sent me some parts for an early Bug resto.  He had done almost all the necessary prep work to get this turned around in 24 hrs. Thanks John.

I did some work for Rick Violet's kart a few years back and was happy to get another job this morning. I had them done in a few hours and in the mail the same day.  He had carefully blasted everything which makes the process much faster. Thanks Rick.

I got another box from Bobby M. just a few days after sending the others back. I hadn't been up close to any PP stuff until recently. I might have to lean on him to build me one. Thanks Bobby.
