What is it follow up

I was able to buy the kart, at a good price. $150 (with the enduro tanks)
I didn’t know he even had them until I went to pick it up and saw them nearby.

It is missing a few parts that I’ll need to find, but a good start.
Would the kart have been rear engine originally?
How would the enduro tank fit with the side winder engine in the way?

What would have been the original engine? I assume the 5hp B & S is not original.
Would a West Bend 580 be appropriate? (I have one)

Al go to Margay's site and click the tab vintage ads. Down towards the bottom there is the ad for New Breed enduros. Looks like they were both rear and sidewinder. Looks like if a sidewinder the right tank is shorter so yours was probably a rear.

nice find...don't think a WB 580 would be correct time wise,,,,but,,, way better than the tater digger...LOL..   it most likely would have had an early McCulloch on it

Technically it is a “Chrysler” Power Bee 580, so a bit newer.
By the way, can you tell the year of a Power Bee by the serial number?
If so, what would the serial number #23861 tell you?

happy you got it but jealous too!
only early margay i don't have is an enduro new breed.
anyway it wants either a wb 820 or better a mcculloch .
if you had the shorter sidewinder tank a early foreign would also work.

unlike many enduros that kart is barely short enough to safely run on most tracks we do vintage on currently.
is it competitive?
 nope because it's built for long tracks.
but it is runable and even could run with early sprints.
one of my best friends chris sahagian had one that his widow still owns.
 it is practically new old stock only ran a few times ever.

 i'll see about getting pic for you.

btw if you're more into sprints contact me and i'll work out a trade with you. 
might even consider letting go of a new breed sprint in trade but that'll take some doing on your part.
