Burnishing pictures

Here are some parts for some of Scott's customers. Almost every hole in the HL carbs is subject to swallowing a pin, so I wire them up to prevent it. They arrived at 10:30 this morning and were ready to be shipped several hours later.

Jon C in Indiana sent some minibike wheels which were blasted with either sand or aluminum oxide grit. It's pretty heavy stuff, but nothing some time burnishing can't fix. They took longer than normal, but they still turned out great.

I got another box from Karl on Monday and knocked them out the first moment I got home from work. One of the 92 blocks had a pretty fresh hone and I was able to tape if off for the blast and burnish. The other 92 block was "well seasoned" as Karl put it, and indeed it was! haha. The seasoned block went in raw. All the other cast or machined pieces cleaned up easy. I also clean and chase every thread to get all the old loctite or RTV out of them.

After the blast, prepped, and ready to go in the tank.

As you can see the Hone is still intact. The discoloration is from the chemicals and won't affect the bore.

It's been awhile since I've been able to do any work with my schedule.
Here are some GoPowers for Doug in WI.

Stan C. is restoring a Zip Shadow with Komet power. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product. The engine mount and sprocket hub are magnesium.

Karl has been regular with sending me 92 parts, and recently clutch covers. There is no effect on the cover bearings during the process.

Stan C. has a Zip/K78 he's getting ready for show and go. The cylinder had a fresh hone which is easy to maintain with PET tape during the process.
I got the top end last night and had it ready to go this morning. Thanks Stan!

I've been doing a steady amount of work from the oldminibike group and getting some karts ready for Bushnell. I plan to be there all 3 days . Some forum members are bringing some jobs for me at the track.

An open invitation to anyone attending. Save the money shipping the parts down here and just bring them with you. I'll knock them out after the race and can return ship. Thanks. Sam

This KT100 will be an upcoming prize at one of the vintage events. It was no problem to give back by doing a blast and burnish. It's on it's way to JB for a full rebuild.

A big part of why I like doing this work is because I get to see parts I'll probably never own. So when someone asks me to burnish some NOS BM130 pieces, I jump at the chance.

All of the parts were run only 2 at a time. Sure, it's time consuming, but prevents part collision on larger pieces.

I got home last night from a week in STL and couldn't wait to get started on some jobs. Here are some more ZIP wheels and a few other parts for Stan C's Zip restoration. These wheels are high pressure die cast and his were in very good shape.
Thanks Stan.
