Mac 10 chainsaw - JasonDavis - 01-30-2018

Is a Mac 10 chainsaw the same motor that would be used on karts? If so, is it tough to change these over?

Sorry Jason, the Mac 10 chainsaw is a totally different engine and has no parts resembling the Mac kart engines.

that is a mcculloch mac10 10
basically an early modern saw totally different.

if you want to build a mc10 saw clone you need a mcs44a or s55a for early mc10 version.
the later mc10 was based off the mc1-70 or mc1-80.
any of these saws have the correct bore crank and stroke and would be the correct base specs for a mc10.
to complete  the mc10 clone package you'll need a d-44 saw for the outer cover head ,head shroud and a few other bits.
you then need to get a mc10 thin ring piston, mc10 stuffer, a kart style exhaust, intake and a decent carb.

if you're lucky you'll be able to build a decent clone with just two saws.
but my experience over the years indicate you'll average three saws parted out to get one nice mc10.

i've written alot about the mc10 saw clones in past threads as have many others.
if you want to try to build one consult those threads and return to this thread after reading them with any questions.
Cool
