Hmmm, if that little motor could talk.. I can only imagine. Somebody put some serious time (and filler rod) into that fellah. I wonder how they mounted it. Jug forward?

My open 101A/A was done that way back in the late seventies. It ran well in B Limited with two 293A's on the V-12 up front, and one 293A on the Go Power PP58 manifold we TIGged onto the back side. The back carb was hand throttled. I still have the steering wheel mounted handle, and ran it a couple years ago at TBO on a small stuffer carb I added to my open 610. Here you can see the handle on the Swoopster steering wheel. Ted

Leave it to a rocket engineer to come up with that tecnique Ted!  That buterfly wheel looks familiar too.

Sterling, I couldn't even begin to drive the Swoopster without that wheel! It's sitting out in the garage covered with dust. Ted

The agony....of all the old karts just gathering dust and no one out there to find some joy in bringing them back......

Sometimes you wonder...why ?    And sometimes you can't even give this stuff away.......another project that bites the dust !   Huh

Wandering off topic once more....... Tongue

Randy, that Swoopster looks solid enough to warrant cutting off the quadrapod steering shaft support and making a new one that sets the steering wheel about 2" higher. If the Lord allows me to keep on keepin' on, I may well do that trick to my Swoopster. I'm pretty sure the chassis will make a very good handling kart. It's just no fun to drive with the steering wheel hitting my legs. A skinny guy, like Bill Cowling was when he designed the kart, would have no trouble driving the rig. Here's a pic of Bill Cliff, factory driver, at speed in his '62 Bandit. Ted

Ted I hear you, but restoring stuff takes so much time and energy and as you know life and living changes our perspectives ......I may be selling off most of the vintage collection I've acquired, but the enjoyment of the adventure
was worth the price paid .

People always want to know, "What's It Worth" ........when you're passionate about doing something.....it's just priceless !

Sharing the passion with like minded buddies is what Vintage is all about for me........I'm not giving up the hobby, but a time comes when you have to pass on some of the good stuff to enjoy the most special ones !
