man,,I cannot believe it is so hard to figure out what a SASW is,,,,,,,come on,,everyone that drove in the late 60s early 70s had one.....
my description is,,,a motor mounted on the side of a rear engine style kart...the front axle,,,the front axle is the same as on rear engine karts...no wishbones, no X chassis ....basically ""straight"" hence the name
how complicated is that,,,
these karts were designed to handle the foreign engines that are free air motors,,,cooled by air moving over them,,,,they were not getting enough ira on rear karts....

Also, it was a heck of a lot easier to mount a big pipe on a SW kart! TJ

Bugs, Alvin Webb's custom*, Bucket Bug......O'Hara's Bug and my Bug without engine .....then there's all those Margay's
.....
* Alvin's sort of a rear bucket transition pre sidewinder one off custom whatever kart .....at least the gear drive gets some air
.So what was the question ? Just the abbreviation ......

Hornet SS 66, Big J Lancer 67, Bug Stingers 69, Kee kart 68, Margays 66, Meyers Lancer 73, how many others
BTW I forgot to mention,,these karts were designed to run Hard Vintage style tires,,I ram modern tires on one,,,once,,,lesson learned...quickly..

Hi Steve, yes I will be at Avon. Had to much fun there last year, going to be a yearly stop from now on.
