I was wondering if the aftermarket TCI Boxes are a dependale & reliable alternative to the factory originals?

They both take a dump at one time or another. I ran Yamahas from 1987 thru 2002 and never had an oem or aftermarket one fail. Unless it came lose and lost ground. Just make sure the module is securely bolted down with a cradle and out in the open. The stainless steel MISI chain guards worked well with a mounting location. From the very beginning of the Yamaha era most people bolted it to the flywheel cover. I had eliminated that cover in the first couple of years running them and went for the chain guard mount. I wanted the crankcase to be open to dissipate the heat much as possible. I even machined my cradles to have a big heat sink. They sell them that way now. But at the 2002 IKF grandnationals a new precedence was made mid way thu the races. The side cover even being a non tech item had to be on that motor. WKA and KART dont require it. I ended up scrambling around and found 15 covers for people to be legal for rest of the races.

I use the RLV replacement. I've had good luck with them.
