GK 800 with pair 49,s ..question .. - steve miller - 04-01-2017
I looked on VKA for guidelines 2017 clicked on it but nuttin came up ..??
my question is ..
recently I picked up a gk800 its pretty decent survivor ..For the most part Im keepin that way ..I had put new tie ends on it correct Azusa rear axle drill cotter everything made new control rods ..
the only pair motors I have that are not all painted up are 49,s ..can I run this thing in historic with pair 49,s or do I have find another block and put pair sixes on it ..??

Aren t the Historic rules for engines produced prior to the mid 60 s ?
Anyway , its up to the promoter running the event to let you run the 49s and usually the guys in that class the day you wanna run the 49 s are asked too. So asking the promoter of the event where you are planning on running the dual 49s would be a good start. Just my 2 cents worth ! Good luck

yes chris ., I believe its karts and motors till 1963 ..??
not the end of the world if I cant ..I fixed up an alley kat with an mc6... just for historic class.. plus my homemade red kart with mc6 always ready ..

we used to alllow them steve. no idea what new tracks and promoters will do. we thought it was silly to exclude a motor with same specs as a mc5 because of the year i was made.
the chassis ABSOLUTELY had to be historic.
not sure if there will be any duals to run against so you'd be running scoreless either way if they allowed the mc49's.
my opinion it shouldn't matter as mc49 and mc5 have identical specs and the 49 is actually harder to modify.

i dont think avon scores historic class ..besides there is always plenty of track time available at the 2 or 3 events I get to attend ....im sure ill be able to ride it ..
I have a kart I fixed up just for historic class ..alley kat with mc6
my plan was to run the gk800 with a 6 so bob .,lora .,and myself all on gk800,s with sixes but it looked weird only one motor ..and around my place if its got two motor mounts it gets two motors ..lol
