I bought a Fox Kart this weekend at an estate sale.
Can you tell me what Model and year it might be?

You have a Mak-kart from Fox. The second generation of the Mak-kart looks nothing like the earlier model. It should be mid 1961. It is very similar to the newer Fox Go-Boy that followed. There is a drop in fiberglass seat this fits on the frame. Someone should still be re-poping them. It is their first kart with a fiberglass seat.

You can find a track test in the August 1961 issue of Karting World.

The Fox line of karts are very good and a lot of them are around. There should be some experts that will follow up if I am mistaken or with more information.
Check the main fame rails behind the seatback tube. Foxes were very flexible, and the main rails were prone to crack back there. A lot of guys added triangular braces from the seat tube to the frame, but that takes away from the flexibility. Get in touch with Dick Teal. He's a Fox guru, having worked at Fox for some time. He's pretty nifty with them. He may still have repop swing mounts and pedals. He made some in stainless. If you can't find Dick's contact info in the member's list here, PM me and I will give you s phone and email. I am not a Fox guy, I was a Go kart 800/1200 guy, but I knew lots of Fox owners and dealers. Ted
This is the test from KARTING WORLD Aug 1961 for your viewing pleasure. Good Luck

Thanks Terry,
I did notice my frame has a couple of rectangular cross members between the seat and pedals, that they don’t show in the review…was that a running change?
Alan
