Anyone have any experience with these ? Would they be legal to race ?
John, some venues might have an issue with a non-vintage chassis. On the other hand, if the kart has a vintage-style frame, vintage wheels, tires that conform to the rules of the sponsoring organization, a vintage engine, Etc., most will let you run. I CAD designed my n1ke. It is not an exact replica of the '63 n1ke, but looks a lot like the photos I used to lay out the design. The Photon was designed from scratch by Pruit Ginsberg and myself. It is a kart that "sort of" looks like a straight axle Bug Stinger sidewinder, but has no parts that are the same, and it is a center-mounted rear engine kart. I have run the n1ke at several tracks with no issues at all. Both karts have vintage fan cooled American engines, vintage wheels, Cheng Shin narrow tires and other vintage and vintage-style parts. Ask around at tracks where you might run. Be careful. Some "fun karts" made of questionable steel have folded up like an accordion in the first off-track excursion. Ted
that looks alot like a clark frame knockoff.
not sure its a frame selection for the track.
my reasoning is from my personally using a clark screwing around.
they are nice but really stiff in the wrong spots and unstable cornering.
never figgered out why.

looking at their package i gotta say it's nice for a yard kart.
but at almost 1400 bux not a cheap alternative.
even so the basic parts aren't suitable for a race track even in demonstrations.
the wheels , brakes , spindles and drive train all would need to be replaced imho.

the engine its set up for is a four stroke which at most vintage kart races isn't even allowed.
at races where they are allowed that frame would be pretty useless competition wise.
the frames used in four stroke vintage tend to be sidewinder style if memory serves.

theres plenty of vintage frames out there in good condition.
finding one is a pain but not impossible.
aaaaand theres been plenty of completed runners sold at 1400 bux on various vintage forums.
my two cents.
