Hello,
I have a MC49-C motor, serial number begins with 13.  I'm trying to find the model of Mac Chainsaw that this is based from.  I've seen some past articles with 200, 250, 300 but wasn't sure.  Trying to locate a few parts.
Thanks for any help.
most 250's have most of the parts except the crank is a step crank. A 200 will have a poor rod and normally the ports aren't all drilled. Both will have a thick ring piston.
What parts do you need?
The 1-45, 1-46, and the earlier 250 chainsaws all share the exact same piston assembly and rings as the 49C.
The 640 saw has the same numbered block as some of the MC49 variants, and will have the correct tapered crank
with one ball bearing on mag side and the caged needle bearing on the PTO side.
Thanks for the information. I'm actually looking for an economical alternative for a muffler. I realize the chainsaw mufflers may hamper performance but should be quieter than the GEM Box Muffler I'm currently using. My neighbors are not happy with the noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
the original chainsaw muffler made out of steel is about the same performance as a gem box muffler.
for our purposes it is a fine muffler to use.
hope this helps

Thanks David. I'm not very familiar with the muffler you are speaking of, any chance you have a picture of one? Will the noise reduction be significant versus the Gem muffler?
Thanks again
yes it will be a little quieter like a loud saw.
