I came across this information about McCullouch while looking at a vintage military aircraft site.  They made enignes for a small helicopter although the idea never took off.

Sterling, Mac didn't build the engines. They were standard Franklin aircraft engines. Mac wanted to build the heli to put them in. I remember them in the aircraft magazines Pop used to get. Mac wanted to diversify back then. Drone engines, helis, lawn mowers, Etc. Only the saws and drone powerplants were a real success, though we had some of the mowers, and they didn't work badly for a small yard. TJ
