Hey guys, I just got my first Chrysler Power Bee 580 (Model # 58037).  It is in nice  condition.   I will be putting it on either a Putt-nik Leo or a Sears Model 300.   Problem is,  I need all the accessories.  I need an engine mount, an exhaust header, and a clutch.   Anyone have these things for sell or know where i can get them?   Thanks....Ron
Of course we know......!  http://www.classickartshop.com/contact/.......old website !

About Classic Kart Shop
Classic Kart Shop is ONE, OLD man, that does this stuff out of a garage! Please try to remember that when you get yourself into a time crunch. If you have a project working, and going to need a part in a month or two, order it now! I do run out of stuff from time to time.
The parts are mostly copies of original 1960s parts. Most of our stuff has been thoroughly race tested and refined if needed, however, there is no warranty or guarantee as to application, fitability, or breakage, and buyer assumes all related risks, although we always want to hear about any problems that arise. All repro parts are made by us, and NOT by GEM, REED, WEST BEND, etc. Anything on this site should be considered copies of original parts, no matter what name is on them.
We only supply hardware that is not readily available in small quantity. If you can buy it at the hardware store or Home Depot, you need to get your own. Grade 5 minimum is suggested.

See Ted's post below  Cool  !
Vince Hughes makes/sells a number of really solid parts for 580's and others. His steel engine mount is a repop of the original heavy duty West Bend mount. He has beautiful open exhausts for the 580 as well. Don't forget you must have a chain guard. Vince is one of the vintage kart crowd, and deserves our support.

You should be able to find a good clutch on eBay, or if you want the very best, Jim Donovan at Max Torque has them. Not cheap, but they work great and are very sturdy. Jim is at

A Noram clutch is a good lower price clutch. Google on Noram clutches.
Remember www.mcmaster.com for quality hardware, and many of the fluid products needed. You may get blue and red Loctite at most auto parts stores. ONLY USE THE RED FOR BOLTS THAT ARE NOT GOING TO BE REMOVED ON A REGULAR BASIS! Ted
I've only had Macs engines on my other karts but they are too much for some of my karts.  I will check these sources out.  Thanks a lot.   I'll probably comment further on this thread later.   Thanks for the leads.   I've never driven a kart with a west bend but have recently become interested in an 820.    Also would like to expand to consider a clinton or pp. for the older karts...
Well, the 580 is one of the simplest engines to work on. Aside from the big snap ring on the PTO side main ball bearing, there's nothing to fear. The 820 is just as easy, except it has no big snap ring to consider. I'm getting my newest 610 ready for November's Tucson event. It is exactly the same as an 820 except for the .344 smaller bore. Ted
ron,
if you rather the era correct clutch i can help you out.
but it won't be a whole lot cheaper than the new modern version of max torque which are vintage legal anyway.
jims clutches are better and parts atre easier to come buy but if you are looking for era correct i can help..

i just happened to go through my old two shoe max torque pile today.
i discovered i have about 8 west bend drive spiders and i only need four.
so if you want a rebuilt two shoe with new lining i can provide one.
pm me if you're interested.
Cool
Ron, Dave's vintage Max Torques work very well indeed, and are very lightweight. Low rotating weight = good acceleration! TJ

Richard,  I think the Mac engines provide more power than some of the older (late 50s early 60s) karts should have.  Those early karts were designed to use the engines of the day, which usually provided 2 to 5 hp (or so) and often were not designed to handle the kinds of power and speeds the later MACs could produce.   The historic karts are more appropriately outfitted with West Bend, Power Products, and Clinton engines as well as some other engines that were not designed for karts (lawn mower engines, motor scooter engines, etc).     Specifically, I am wanting to find a couple west bends for a late 50s Putt-Nik kart, and for a sears kart I have.   I also have a "one of" "special" kart that a MAC is probably too much for (power)....Ron

Im gonna get a header and mount from Vince.  I haven't decided on the clutch yet.  Thanks for the offer, I haven't decided on the clutch yet.  I'll let you know if I decide to go with the two shoe clutch.   Thanks....Ron
Note: the WB580 has different PTO shaft dimensions than the 610 & 820. Compare meaurements before you buy.
