I'm freshening up an 820 and need the connecting rod torque spec and cylinder head torque would greatly appreciate any info on this thanks. Has the later rod but not the newest.
1/4-20 socket head screws, 144 IN/LBS, but I use 132 IN/LBS on head bolts into aluminum. If you're using the stock crappy rod screws, the spec for No 10-32 is 78 IN/LBS. I refuse to even use these screws. Either get a set of Mac 101 screws from Terry Ives and torque to 90 IN/LBS, or better yet, get the high strength West Bend screws from Tim Hinson at Catkart Racing, 661 253-9000, or from US Motor Power themselves if you can get them to answer their phone. They are expensive, but you can torque to 115 IN/LBS, and they may be reused. Never reuse ordinary socket head rod screws. If you plan ever to modify the 820, itĀ  is a must to have the newest connecting rod. This is insurance against the rod parting company with the crank at high RPM. The older rod will work O.K. in a stock 820. Ted

Factory recommends

Connecting rod: 80-90 in. lbs.

Cylinder head: 90-100 in. lbs.
