..I missed out on the conversations about the west bend packages ..(dang heat got to me )..

i did here something about they would chrome there package engine for 100.00 and change ..is this correct ..

would  they chrome final hone and clearance to match piston ..?? if you send a block you already have ..

just curious ...

plus i have 5 or 6 nice ported blocks need chrome ..thought might be cheaper than 225.00 each that i got quoted from millennium ..
Steve,
what jeff announced at dinner was a new package for the us820 being offered disassembled.
it comes with all the correct kart parts.
single ring piston, extra strong rod and bolts, tapered go kart drive shaft and most important an un-plated cylinder.
pricing is somewhere north of 500 bux which is excellent.
the cylinder is un plated so you can do your own porting work.
you then send it back to us motors to be plated not sure if the plating is an extra charge when you buy the motor.
While they are plating the cylinders these are NEW cylinders that have never been plated before.
that means they will just go in ,be dipped and match bored in the production line.

with that said i'd guess they won't be interested in re-plating cylinders.
there's alot more to replating.
they'd need to strip the old chrome by reverse plating , check the bore for flaws , repair issues and then re-plate cylinder.
they use nikasil which is different from hard chroming.
i doubt they can even strip off old chrome plating even if they wanted to do it.

Cool
Jeff who?
...jefff Brown .. the gent in charge of new castle event ..
Duh, I should've figured that out. I had a "Covfefe" moment.
$525
tapered crank
good rod
good rod bolts
good piston
some assembly required
tk
..TK ...any idea if the 525.00 includes the chrome ..?? ...or is that additional cost ..??
This sounds like a good deal for guys like me that have absolutely zero stash of old engine parts laying around.
seems like it be awesome opportunity for anyone to get into vintage karting ..(sportsman class ) sidewinder and rear ..
no excuse for not being able find an affordable engine ..good used clutches are easy to find and max torque makes new ones ..no pipes needed ..can get repop can mufflers ..vintage speed tires ., and we all know theres plenty of karts reasonable ..
id say 1200-1600.00 get you complete ready to ride package to join the fun ..??
Any more news on this, really wanting one of these motors if it's going to be a long term thing. Would like to get a kart now if I could be assured this is going to happen.
