Has anybody here ever worked with the dry clutches that come on Comer engines?

I see them come up on E-Bay fairly regularly.  (Not vintage, I know.)  It's one of those designs that looks like it could not possibly work, but apparently they do?

It looks like they start with a solid hub and then cut three slots and drill three holes (plus the bore for the shaft).  Viola!  Done.  No pesky keyways, springs, rivets, disks, blah blah blah.

Or, are the hubs made net-shape from Powder Metallurgy?

When I look at E-Bay #282494161242, in the edge-views, it looks like there's organic lining, but in the other views, I can't see any lining.
They work fine till worn out. A lot of the tag motor packages use that type. Even some chainsaws have them too. Not cheap tho if running in current classes. real strict on specs to control engagement speed. If you fry one say goodbye to a couple hundred bucks.
