HI everyone. I have a rupp kart with swing mount, does the springs go in the middle between the swing mount and kart bracket or on the bottom with the washer and nuts? also whats the swing mount for? adjusting chain  ? thanks
I will let the Dart guys answer the spring location question. The swing mount is designed to absorb vibration. Since it pivots about the axle, the distance from crankshaft to axle remains constant, thus reducing the propensity for tossing chains. In point of fact, tests done in the very early days of swing mounts do suggest that the spring or rubber mountings absorb some power as well as vibration. This power absorption decreases the amount of power available to drive the kart. I don't know if this true. I will keep on using swing mounts. The increase in driver comfort is well worth any tiny loss of power. TJ
Early ones used the springs on top. I don't think the later ones used springs. On everything I build I use a rubber washer above and below the mount and no spring.
